True, big boxes are even better. That’s why I love Special Editions. Releases like Age of Empires III for Windows are so nice: a nice big box with an art book, an audio CD and much more cool stuff inside.

I totally agree with Patrick (at least his first and third paragraph ;-)), though I have to say LGP is also not perfect – I’m still loving the old big boxes or at least slipcases – plain DVD cases look so extremely low-budget and have almost no added value. At least LGPs manuals are ok…
Heck, I think I’ll buy the X3 Special Edition just because it’s in an Eurobox with extra stuff inside, though I’m not so excited about the genre (Hint: I’m still waiting for a demo ;-))

For me it’s just the oposite. I hate digital distribution. I just want to have something physical. If I pay for something, I want to receive something which I can hold in my hands. I want to have a box with a disc and a manual inside.

That’s why I love LGP. Their releases are perfect. A box with the text “Linux DVD-Rom” on it, inside a disc with Tux printed on it and a manual which I can read when lying in my bed.

For me it’s very important to have something physical. I just don’t want to pay for only some ones and zeros. That’s why I hope LGP will keep on releasing physical discs. I won’t pay for digital distribution.

I even prefer to go a local store and pay for my Linux distribution. Some distributions have those boxed versions and I love them. I don’t want to download and ISO and burn it to a disc. I want a big box which I can store in my book shelf. So nice to see all those boxes on the shelf. I’m proud I’ve got something to show when friends are coming by. I don’t have to boot my PC, evryone can just look at those boxes on the shelf, take them out, read the text on the back… I love boxed versions. Digital distribution, some gigabytes on my hard drive, a lot of ones and zeros? It’s worth nothing for me.
